Conservatories

What can I use a conservatory for?

First you need to determine what you are going to use it for, as that will affect the style and cost. With the development of construction methods and materials, it is a practical additional room, giving living space for dining, relaxing with children, entertaining, watching TV — even a gym or games room!

But to make the most of it, you need to think about its location and aspect, how much space is available and what your budget is. If it is just an additional room that will be multi-functional, it may be better to choose a simple, practical design such as a lean-to. If it is primarily for relaxing and entertaining in, you may want to choose a more elaborate style such as an angular Edwardian or a Gable. An impressive lantern, P-shape or orangery will certainly make a statement for your home.

We specialise in all types of conservatories including: (as well as all combination styles)

Victorian Conservatories

Styles
The versatility of the Dudley Doors Conservatory Roof System allows you to choose any design, be it contemporary or traditional. From the most complex style, to the cleanest minimalist look, your dream can become a reality! Below we have identified the most popular styles for you to browse over.

Victorian
Victorian-style conservatories give a nostalgic appearance with faceted corners to add character. The design reflects a degree of the ornateness associated with the turn of the century, whilst maintaining the practicality demanded by modern lifestyles.

Edwardian
An Edwardian style conservatory elegantly maximises space, with right angled corners. It combines clean lines with the finishing details that add an air of sophistication to the design, whilst giving you the maximum floor area available within the site.

P & B Shapes
For larger homes, a P or B shaped conservatory continues the nostalgic appearance with enhanced internal accommodation. The bays mirror the architectural styling of many traditional homes, making it the obvious choice where space allows.

Lean To
The description belies the appearance: no “DIY” feel with corrugated plastic roof, but a more contemporary styling for today’s modern homes that maximise space. The uncluttered lines compliment modern house design.

Bespoke
Every home is different, so there are occasions when a different style is required by desire or limitations imposed by the building. We can design a conservatory to meet all requirements, and the Dudley Doors Conservatory Roof System has been developed to easily accommodate any variation on design or scale — from a porch to a swimming pool.

Features
The Dudley Doors Conservatory Roof System has many unique features that set it apart from the competition!

Glazing
What types of glazing are available?

It is here the roof glazing plays a vital role. Two types of glazing are usually used in conservatory roofs- polycarbonate or glass.

Polycarbonate
The Dudley Doors system can accommodate 25mm and 35mm polycarbonate with 35mm being the most popular option due to its increased thermal and sound insulation, achieving a u-value of up to 1.5. Clear, opal and bronze shades are available with a ‘heatguard option’ that is very effective against heat build-up.

Glass
Over the last few years double glazed units have grown tremendously as the preferred option for glazing conservatory roofs. This is mainly because the problems of seeing ‘dirty’ roof glass and the risk of a ‘green house feel’ from adverse heat build-up have been eradicated by the use of high performance glass. Self-cleaning glass with coatings that protect from excessive heat from the sun and reflect energy back into the building have transformed conservatory roofing. Added to this, the cavity between the glass can be filled with Argon gas which improves thermal insulation even further and reaches u-values of 1.0.
